Is Timoshenko For Or Against UIA?

During her last visit to Lviv as part of her electoral campaign, the Ukraine's Prime Minister Yulia Timoshenko, who also currently runs for the office оf the President, told the audience: "If I had lived in 1918-1919, I wouldn't have failed to join the sichovi striltsi (the other title of the nationalist Ukraine Insurgent Army)! Because it was there that the true struggle for Ukraine's liberty and independence took place."

After the meeting, the correspondent of the newspaper "Ukraine Pravda" made an attempt to trace how would this idea of the Prime Minister to join the nationalist militants evolve further on in course of history, and therefor he asked her: "Yulia Vladimirovna, if you dreamt to join sichovi striltsi in 1919, then would you also fight in 1944 for the UPA - Ukrainian Insurgent Army (against the Soviets)?

The Prime Minister, who is not normally at a loss when answering difficult questions, this time preferred to refrain from elaborating on her attitude towards this rather contradictory and widely disputed UPA issue.
